About the event
Please come and enjoy social hour starting at 5PM, then enjoy a dinner of your choice at 6PM, and our speaker Dr. Kathy Hayrynen will then present their topic Demystifying ADI at 7PM.
Topic Breakdown:
Austempered ductile iron (ADI) was first commercially produced in the 1970’s. While there have been many successful applications of this material, misunderstandings of what it takes to be successful with ADI still persist. Austempering is not a heat treatment that will correct for a defect in a casting, rather it will further reduce the properties of a “bad” casting. When applied correctly, it can significantly improve the properties of a casting. This presentation will explain what needs to be done to be successful with ADI from both a raw material (iron casting) as well as the heat treating perspectives.
